Business and general English with a native from Hawaii!

Hi! My name is Shane and I come from the island of Maui, Hawaii, USA. I'm currently living in Bangkok for over a year now. I've been teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) for over 8 years now. Mainly I taught for 7 years in Japan. My primary focus is adult business and conversational English classes. I teach from secondary school to adults.

When it comes to my teaching approach, I believe in tailoring classes to the student’s goals. I use LinguaHouse lesson plans and documents as a base for our classes and supplement it with cultural knowledge. I teach from a high-low context approach in connecting culture with language.
I have a wide experience in teaching English- I’ve been teaching for over 8 years and besides that I have practical knowledge from my career in Hospitality management and sales. I've taught at companies such as Sony, Toshiba, Samsung, Mizuho Bank, Isuzu, Mahle Filter Systems, Fuji-Xerox and more.

My background outside of teaching is very diverse! As mentioned before, my career was in Hospitality and sales. I’ve worked in many hotels. Also I’m an island photographer in Hawaii, Tahiti and Thailand. I specialize in underwater, landscape and local life photography.

My personal hobbies include cooking food from different countries and traveling. I've lived in 5 countries and traveled to many more all in the Pacific Rim. I speak Japanese and Spanish as well.
